How To Know If You Are Experiencing A Panic Attack By Taking A Look At The Symptoms You Are Experiencing

When you're in some occupations it is difficult to disconnect yourself from work because folks like to request advice. This is something which I experience very often because I'm a social worker. When individuals find this out they like to request my view about what they ought to do about different situations, normally involving one of their neighbors or relatives. This can grow inconvenient, but being in a helping profession this is part of the job. Many people do not know where to turn to get services for mental health needs, therefore they find it more comfortable to ask somebody they know how to do this.

The majority of the affiliates of our church know that I'm a social worker. We had an occurrence that occurred during a church occasion which called for my expertise. We were gathered in our community area for a potluck supper one Sunday evening. One of the church members was sitting off by themselves. I have spoken with her at other events and she has told me that she has difficulties with anxiety. When I saw her I observed that her complexion was flushed and she seemed to be having a difficult time controlling her breathing. I saw the early symptoms of an anxiety attack. I knew that they would worsen rather swiftly. I quietly asked our pastor if he would open his office. I went over to the lady and asked her to come in to the pastor's office with me. When we were walking towards the office she told me that she was having sharp chest pains. She does not have a past record of heart disease so I thought that the pains were another of the indications of an anxiety assault. After we were inside the office I had her concentrate on doing some deep breathing routines with me. I peacefully rubbed her fingers and continued repeating the instructions for the breathing which I was doing with her. She had once been heavily sweating so I opened a window, although it was very cold outside. The cold air together with the deep breathing started to calm her. She admitted that she had once been very anxious over the past few days and that she had not taken her medication that day. As we talked the majority of the symptoms of the apprehension assault dissipated.

Our church is very near a hospital and I asked her if she wished to be checked there to make sure that the chest pains had once been part of the anxiety. She told me that she was certain they were and that if she had just a couple more moments to compose herself she believed she would have the capacity to leave for home. I told her that no one in the meeting had noticed our departure since they were conversing and having canapes. She agreed to join me in the party with the promise that I would take her home the minute she asked. She ended up staying for the majority of the evening. She told me when I drove her home that if she had once been alone she would have called an ambulance because she thought the symptoms of the apprehension assault were a heart assault instead. I told her that this was a common error and that she should be more conscious of how her apprehension affects her.
