Okay, so here’s the Volvo story!

A couple of years ago I learned about the book, The Secret.  I read it – loved it!  Watched the DVD – loved it!  Read it again – loved it!  So I decided to see if this “secret” really works.  It all made sense to me, even though at first it may seem silly, or on the surface could even seem absurd.  I mean you can just think about what you want and get it?  Yeah right!!  For some reason though, I really connected with the idea and the more I studied it (”it” being the Law of Attraction) the more it made sense.

There’s a part in the book where Mike Dooley talks about visualization, and how you should take a look at your hands and really study them, and then imagine your hands wrapped around the steering wheel of your brand new car.  So, I began to do this.  I found a picture of the car I wanted and posted it on a bulletin board.  Then it was really interesting because I would notice that car on the streets everywhere.  I started talking to my son about this car.  When we’d see a Volvo XC90 on the streets, I would say “look Max, that’s our next car”.  He was about a year old or less when I would talk to him about this car, so it was nice because he didn’t ask me why, when, or how!!

Now at the time I was visualizing this new car, the car I was driving was fairly new…maybe a year and a half old, and I actually loved that car.  I was truly grateful for it.  It was a 4-Runner and loaded out, so I didn’t need a car at all!  But like we all do, we’re always wanting something better (that’s a whole other blog!!).  So, I was always grateful for what I had but I also made it a point to be grateful for my new Volvo (which I knew would be my next car).  I had no idea how I was going to get this car, but that didn’t matter.

I really BELIEVED this Volvo would be my next car.  I had no idea how we were going to afford it and I already had an almost brand new car, but I didn’t care about all that.  All I knew was that my next car would be that Volvo.

About a month or two after I started this process of gratitude, visualization, and truly believing, I got a call from my husband, Ben.  It went something like this -

Ben: Hey Honey, How would you like to go out of town this weekend in a new car?  (I was headed to Austin)

Me: WHAT?

Ben: You want one of those Volvo SUV’s, right?

Me: WHAT?  Are you serious?  Don’t B.S. me!

Ben: What are you doing right now?  Can you come up to the dealership and switch out the cars and car seat?

Me:  WHAT?  Are you there now?  I’m on my way!

When I arrive at the dealership I hug & kiss my husband, cry, talk to the sales guy about the bells & whistles, cry some more, switch out the car seats, and drive off.  As I’m driving out of the lot I notice the radio is tuned into some random station that I’ve never listened to or even heard of.  The radio hosts were talking about The Secret!  I about lost it.  I can’t describe in words how I was feeling, but it was something of excitement, freaked out, and in awe.  I stopped the car to take a few deep breaths and gain my composure.  HOLY SH*%!!

This works…this really works!!

Watching the Oscars a few nights ago I noticed how most of the winners came up to accept their award and said “I’ve been dreaming about this day my whole life.” (okay, so I probably shouldn’t quote this as I don’t know that’s exactly what was said, but you get my drift).  My point is…this is the Law of Attraction (LOA)!

Anyone that has ever taken a yoga class from me knows how much I’m into LOA.  For those of you that are wondering what this is, here’s a short definition… like attracts like!  Everything that you experience, you bring about by your thoughts.  If you’re a positive thinker, then positive stuff always happens to you.  If you’re more negative, then you have more negative experiences.  It’s that simple…or is it??

The LOA is working constantly, whether you know it or not.  And it works because our thoughts are energy ( just like everything else in this universe).  The energy we emit (through our thoughts, actions, or words) is on a frequency, much like that of a radio signal.  So when we emit a high frequency (positive thoughts & actions are on a higher frequency) , we are attracting back to us high frequency energy (experiences,  stuff, or whatever you want to call it).  Side note…parenthesis are my new favorite thing!!

How AWESOME is this?  Do you understand what this means???  It means that you can have whatever you set your mind to.  Now I’m sure you’ve heard that before, but just kinda brushed it off.  I know I did to some degree, but now I get it.  And, now that I’m aware of the LOA, I see how it’s working all the time.  I got the car I wanted, I’m living in the house I want, this blog came about by the LOA…the list goes on because everything that I have and experience is because it started with a thought.  I do this, you do it, Einstein did it!  So the question now is can we deliberately create what we want?   Absolutely!

In my coming posts I’ll let you know exactly what I did to get the car I’m driving.  It’s a great story that gives me goosebumps everytime I think about it.

This blog post is for every service provider who’s ever been on the receiving end of my frustration. 

(It took me a minute to figure out how to say that other than “every provider who has ever frustrated me.”  Apparently I still have a knee jerk response to point the finger when it seems like something has gone severely awry!)

Anyway, for those of you trying to get your hands on a copy The Art of Self Love, you’ve noticed it’s easier said than done.  (Thanks to those of you persistent enough to either figure it out or to email reporting trouble!)

It looks like Paypal did some sort of system upgrade at the same time I launched this new manifesting solution product.  Because I was using Paypal as my sole method of payment, that means just about everyone who tried to purchase wasn’t able to. 

Ha!

Okay, that’s very cool that I can actually laugh about this today!  Trust me when I say last night I was not laughing.

Last night I was letting my (former) virtual assistant know how disappointed I was in the way she (didn’t) handle this whole process.  And boy, did I feel justified: 

• First of all, I didn’t even have a copy of the formatted ebook before it was up for sale (so I had no idea what people were receiving – had anyone been able to receive it!)
• second, I had to hire someone else at the last minute to create the web page that she had agreed (and been well paid) to create;
• third, she outsourced the shopping cart setup which she specifically reassured me would not happen when I hired her;
• fourth, she missed deadline after deadline in putting all this together (our original date was pre-Valentine’s Day);
• fifth – can you feel me on this?  It wasn’t pretty.

As I ranted and raved (thank you, Janie and Judy and Iyabo, for letting me – it was just what I needed) about this botched job, even as I ranted about my irresponsible virtual assistant, it felt strangely familiar.

Huh.  “Can’t get my hands on a copy of my own ebook.”  “Can’t get format changes made to it.”  “People who want to buy can’t download.”  “The sales page isn’t how I want it.”  “People I work with let me down.”

Yeah, I’ve been here before.  I know this place.

My assistant didn’t do this; I did.

This is MY vibe.

I know this one from last year with Pray Rain Journaling.  And if I look back further, I’ll find it even older than that, I’m sure.

Wow, it took me a year to clean up my web-developer vibration.  (After hiring my third person and still being frustrated, I realized it’s not them, it’s me.)  Please, Lord, let it not take another year for me to shift this one!

Actually, it already IS shifting!  Look at this (I’m so excited to have evidence of it already!): 

the fabulous and amazing virtual assistant I hired to help at the last minute is turning out to be worth her weight in gold.  She’s delivering like no one’s ever seen!  She worked the weekend for me – a virtual stranger – even though she’s got kids and a husband and a life.  She gave the Art of Self Love project her full attention and she’s plugging technology holes and filling delivery gaps I didn’t even know existed!  I told her to change her title to: Susan Marshall, Hero.

And the other assistant that got the outsourced work from the original girl I hired, she’s turning out to be a dream come true, too.  Reasonable, helpful, generous.   Things are shifting!

And oh my gosh, can I just say how GORGEOUS this package is?  That’s thanks to Vaughn at Killer Covers!  I got FABULOUS service from Vanessa over there.  And not to mention Dave, the Launch Coach, who gave me great tips in how to give birth to this baby!

And based on a late night email from my original helper, I’m feeling some peace around that relationship, too.

Ahhhh.  Relief.

Satisfaction.  Pleased with results. 

This is the vibe I choose.  This is the vibe that attracts all the best players and resources and connections and results.

It’s not you, it’s me.  And as Judy and I mentioned on the 3 Biggest Manifesting Obstacles call in response to someone’s question, this isn’t to place fault or blame – just pure clean responsibility where it lies: within.

We are not victims of shady service providers or corrupt government or unfaithful partners or a depressed economy.  We’re in charge here.
