As I sit here on the eve of a new year I think about all the people making resolutions…lose weight, quit smoking, no caffeine, be nicer, get a good job, work less, work harder, the list goes on. And then I think about all the people in Feb (or sooner) giving up on those resolutions. We’ve all done it, right? We all do it, which is why I don’t make new years resolutions.

I totally respect those that come into the new year with resolutions, and I’m blown away by those that actually follow through…although come to think of it, I can’t recall ever meeting anyone who has.
As I’ve grown over the years I’ve learned the value of the present moment and how every moment is a brand new one and it’s okay to start over at any moment, so January 1 doesn’t really mean much to me other than it’s another moment!
So with that in mind, here’s my very simplistic intention for this moment, the next, the next and the next moment: TO FEEL GOOD AND TO HAVE THOUGHTS THAT FEEL GOOD! I truly believe that if in every moment I can feel good, then all will be well. I will have anything and everything that I want and I will be living my dream life. Period. It’s that simple.
Now, I’m sure you’re wondering how I will feel good when something bad is happening and how feeling good will bring me anything and everything I want. Let me explain — if something bad is happening it’s really just my perception of whether it’s good or bad, so if I can perceive it to be good, or at least see a bright side, then I’ll feel better. Does that make sense?? AND, as you know I’m a HUGE believer in the Law of Attraction so the better I feel, the more things I’ll attract into my experience to feel good about, and I won’t be having “bad” things come into my life!
So there you have it. My intention now, on Jan. 1, or any other day, any other moment is to feel good. Wanna join me?
Happy New Year, Everyone!

Part Two:
The Pelican’s Glide
As the co-founder of The Golden Flow™ system, I know quite a bit about being in my flow, about what the flow state is and about using the energy of Source to create my life. Nevertheless, while visiting Celestún I had a great flowing experience.
We’d come here to see the mangroves, pink flamingos, pelicans and other wild birds that live here. After buying our tickets we walked to the end of the dock, stepped carefully into a boat that sat up to ten passengers and waited for our guide to start the engine. This area of Mexico tends to be very hot and muggy, but this mid-December day was beautiful and pleasant. We began admiring the red water (a natural phenomenon that occurs this time of year when the red tree trunks from the mangrove paint the water) as we waited patiently for our guide to try to start the boat’s engine. After the first three or four tries I wondered if we’d have to change boats. Another couple of tries and we were off! It wasn’t long before the peninsula brought us to several large birds on the mangroves, in the water and some flying by.
To my surprise, one pelican seemed to be flying in the same direction we were traveling in. The boat was traveling quickly, but the pelican not only kept up with us, but even started going faster than us. The pelican didn’t flap its wings and it wasn’t a windy day. This bird truly caught my eye because he was clearly showing me still more about the power of being in the flow state. The bird clearly illustrated to me something profound about life.
I couldn’t help but notice the side-by-side comparison life was placing before me. While we traveled in this loud, bumpy boat whose engine, no doubt, burned more than it’s share of gas, this pelican flew effortlessly, more smoothly and traveled faster than we did.
All the efforts of our man-made boat, mechanical engine and our ability to travel quickly on the water to a bird sanctuary looked small next to this pelican. Our efforts seemed huge while the pelican’s gliding was smooth, divine. I also noticed that with our intelligence, humanity had found a way to break a natural law by traveling on water through the invention of the boat. Well, the pelican naturally broke a law of mine because it traveled on air. While our invention took efforting and ingenuity, which is great, the pelican’s flight only took allowing the flow, which turned out to be more powerful.
The message was clear. The pelican had more grace, more elegance and more power because she was using the flow state. She was allowing life to carry her, to guide her and to give her more than we had. She was saving her energy, whereas we were using ours in the form of money for the tour, gas for the boat and so on.
Again, I am reminded of my teachers because I know the impact of this message. It is telling me to increase my allowing in my life; to get further still into my flow and to effort less in my life. I know that if I do so, my life will bring me even more with even less work on my part. My life will also bring me more than I could ever create on my own.

My teachers once said to me that it isn’t often in life that I will know things. When you do know something, they said, then use that and act upon it.
It’s not that this was an esoteric secret, it’s just that I’d never thought to think about the fact that there are things I know inherently somehow, things that I have a good idea about and many more that I just don’t know.
So many things in life are uncertain. Most of the time, at best, we make an educated guess, we do our best and hope things work out. But sometimes we know. And when we know, then we also know what to do and where that will lead us. This was their point, when I know, then I should let nothing stop me from using my knowingness.
Today is the anniversary of the day I was born. You may call it my birthday, but since I celebrate my birthday at a different time of year I think of this as a time of year when life seems to open to me. And this week has opened to me.
This week we met my father and his wife in Mexico City and we flew to the Campeche and Yucatan area. We are spending time together, of course, but part of the intent of the trip was for me to see some of my roots, some of my father’s heritage.
The trip has been, unexpectedly, very tourist-like. We have gone and seen Mérida, Campeche, the pyramid sites of Edzná, Uxmal, the city where my dad was born called Ciudad del Carmen; we also went to a small ecological area called Celestún. We saw some family in Ciudad del Carmen and drove around the neighborhood where my father grew up and went to school. We saw his local church and another church who had acquired their land as a donation by one of my father’s uncles. (This uncle had bequeathed quite a bit of land, donating several plots of land to various religions, no doubt to cover his basis!) The only thing that we didn’t get to do was to see my grandparents and great-grand parent’s graves.
Even with all of these sites, nothing stirred me, nothing touched me or felt like it was a part of me or my past. It was as if I were the complete stranger to these places that I am.
Still, I came to a place of knowingness several times on this trip.

When you stepped on this path of entrepreneurship, if you’re like me, you became a sponge for knowledge. If there was a new strategy you heard about, you found a resource to become skilled in learning that strategy. If there was an event you knew you needed to be at, you figured out how to get there. You were an “eager beaver” to learn, learn, learn and implement what you learned in your business.
But chances are, nobody ever suggested you stop with all the information gathering and ask yourself the deeper questions of, “Is this right for me? Is this aligned with who I am, what my business is and what’s important to me?” Many entrepreneurs I’ve spoken with are just now stepping back to ask themselves what they’ve been doing for the past several months (or years)… and if it’s really working for them.
What several of these entrepreneurs are discovering is that they’ve been going after what they “thought” they “should” be doing based on watching and modeling someone else. It’s an honest thing to do. You’re taught to model others. But, you’ve got to be mindful of knowing where the line is between modeling in a way that serves you and modeling in a way that pulls you further away from who you are.
On that note, I want to share with you the ABC’s of aligning with your business so no matter what stage you’re in; no matter how much knowledge you have; no matter your level of success (or frustration) these three tips will help you make sure you are on track to be in total alignment with your business as you head into 2010.
Assess
In order to get from “Point A” to “Point B” in terms of aligning with your business, you’ve first got to assess where you really are. Many entrepreneurs just keep going, keep plowing through their to-do list without taking time to step back and truly assess where they’re at and what direction they’re headed.
In this phase, you’ll allow yourself to see what’s working in your business and what isn’t working in your business, and more importantly what is and isn’t working for YOU! It may be that your greatest source of income is also coming from the service that causes you the most amount of stress. This is not in alignment. Your income ought to come from your greatest joy. So, these are the things to be looking for. Where does your business FEEL right and where doesn’t it?
Be Brave
The assessment phase may uncover some things that perhaps you’d prefer not to see. I know when I went through the assessment phase in my business, I saw I was doing things that I really shouldn’t have been doing. These were some of the things others had suggested I do, so they didn’t purely come from the intent in my heart, but by what someone else thought.
So, this next phase invites you to be brave in facing what you see. Yes, it might feel temporarily easier to pretend that what you see isn’t really there. It’s natural to want to avoid that kind of pain. However, if it’s there, it will always be there and it can’t really be avoided, it can only be postponed. So, allow yourself to face whatever you see straight-on and you will be one step closer to totally aligning your Self with your business.
Co-Create
Finally, the third phase is to embrace the concept of co-creation. Co-creation happens when you are fully awake, aware and conscious of the reality that everything created through you is created in partnership with Spirit. In order to truly be aligned with your Self and your business, it’s essential to not let your human will or your ego feel like it’s the creative force behind what you do.
Alignment happens when your ego is set aside, when your intent is pure, when comparison and competition (or what you think you “should” do) aren’t part of your process. This can be the greatest growth oppor^tunity of all… to allow yourself to “let go” enough to make room for grace. So, don’t feel like you have to do everything in your business (or your life) alone, be open to seeing that when you’re in alignment you’re opening to a world of infinite possibility.
